We went on patrol on Sunday as well. We also visited out neighbouring nhw’s. Area was once again pretty quiet. Nothing serious happening out here.

14 April 2023

We went to patrol on invite with the nhw from Belville and surroundings.  What impressed us was the number of vehicles and members out on patrol. It was a combination of several nhw’s as well as security companies. It was called by Afriforum. It was however interesting to be part of.  They moved sleeping people in the parks and on the stoeps of houses etc.

After we were done in Belville we returned to our own area.  Our area was pretty quiet.  We did come upon a house where the garage and gate were wide open. Any criminal could just walk in and help themselves with whatever is in the garage.  We knocked on the door and window, but there was no response. We did report it though.
As we were about to leave a car came down on the wrong side of the road face to face with us. We had our white light flickering on our roof. The vehicle then reversed enter the premise with the open gate and garage door. The vehicle drove into the size of the gate. Struggled to get into the garage, knocked into the garage walls a couple of times before entering the garage.
Lesson learned, do not go out when you are under the influence of alcohol

12 MArch 2023

Went out on patrol on this Sunday evening. Was a bit eventful. Had to get Police out for assault charges after stones been thrown.  From people claiming they had been robbed.  Rule of thumb, if someone is at your gate claiming they have been robbed and need help. Call SAPS or 107 or 021 480 7700 and explain the situation, but do not approach the person.

10 MArch 2023

We were out on patrol again. We encountered quite a few people drinking on the road. From plantation road to 4th avenue.  Even drinking in the park during load shedding in total darkness.
Was relief to see Police presence in our neighbourhood.
Even came across Law enforcement stopping and searching people on the road in our area. Please note. PLEASE DO NOT stand on street or near street corners in the total darkness doing load shedding with a cell phone chatting with a friend, who is on his phone next to you.

24 February 2023

We went out on patrol again. The night squad.  Area was a little bit busy. We were able to confiscate quite a few illegal items (weapon) from people wondering around in the middle of the night.

18 February 2023

We decided on a Saturday afternoon visibility patrol again with three vehicles. Seems this patrol is going to be popular.  We are reaching more residents this way and culprits can see that we are in our area patrolling.

We cleaned out a couple areas where people were drinking in public.  It seems that they did not know that it was illegal or they just pretend not knowing.  In any event we, explained to them he problem that drinking in public can lead to. One big problem is fighting over liquor or that other elements wants to remove the alcohol from their possession.

We got a message from the CID group that perpetrators were in their yard and was removing roof plates from the premises.  We responded and found them walking up 4th avenue with the plates above their heads.  Upon stopping, them, they threw the plates down and ran across the park in 4th avenue.  One of the patrol vehicles cornered them on the other side of the park, where they were walking as if nothing happened.  Upon seeing us, they came begging and said they will return the plates, but as they walked past the car, they ran and we could not follow them over the field in plantation road.

In cases like this, where the plea for help came via the CID group, a lot of time was wasted and the security companies were not informed immediately, slowed down the response.  If it was posted on the the correct Belmont Park Safety group, the security could have been on the scene before us.  We would urge everyone in Belmont Park and Kleinbegin to join that group.

17 February 2023

The area was pretty quiet.  There was a concern about a suspect on a green BMX, but it was not a threat at the end of the day.
